European NATO routes and TACMARs


Cold War NATO route, Germany.

After WWII  NATO began marking routes throughout Europe to establish a navigational presence as a tactical response to Russian military build-up.  This sign array (2) has arrow codes positioned beneath numbers: "up-down" and an "arrow-up".  These signs are actually marking this building. Note the "triangle" sign behind these.  Though difficult to see on the "yield sign" there is a TACMAR on lower-right side at the bottom also marking the site.  I have reports from an exchange student in Germany of NATO "arrow-up" signs marking important sites and facilities just as here in the U.S.


Code-word "ZONE" marks a NATO site for confiscation.

 Here in the U.S. road signs with the word "ZONE" mark sites FEMA has slated for military confiscation also.  This code system is universal with minor variations country to country leading us to believe NATO and United Nations "peacekeeping" military are the main players behind the coding.  While GPS is an important navigational tool, signs and markers are a perfect aid and contingency in varifying coordinates at target sites.

Clever "arrow" configuration marks a university "blue" on left.

My thanks to the exchange student who took the time to capture these NATO codes marking this site.  Note, the code is in the arrows using actual roadway directionals but with a secondary meaning--Note the "blue" Autobahn symbol is a color-code ID. Color-code "blue" has been an international symbol for "triage", vaccine sites, quarantine/ detention, ect. Schools are on the list for inoculation "shot clinics". Observe also the signage just behind these; a "blue triangle" for additional embellishments for marking this facility. These codes match U.S. DOT/FEMA in the same TACMAR system!

Military codes leading to a steel plant. (there are several other sites marked on this route also) Note the 3 signs with NATO "triangle" symbology or an "arrow-up" code disguised.  Also observe the military "tacmar" on the circle signage partially hidden behind signpost pointing in same direction to the steel mill.  (My photo editor could not resize this marker, however magnified outside my site builder Hebrew lettering is printed on it.)
